The Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center is in existence to improve the emotional and physical well-being of individuals through the therapeutic use of horses. Our center specializes in therapeutic riding as well as hippotherapy. Clients include (but are not limited to) mentally and emotionally impaired, those with Autism, Asperger’s, visual and hearing impairment , Down Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Muscular Dystrophy (MD), Cerebral Palsy (CP), learning disabilities, Cystic Fibrosis, cancer, brain injuries, Attention Deficit (Hyperactivity) Disorder, seniors, veterans, and at-risk children. As a result of therapeutic riding or hippotherapy, clients usually report positive gains in areas related to physical mobility, emotional wellbeing, behavioral control, and social skills.

EnCourage Institute provides specialized interventions for learning needs. EnCourage Institute is a licensed agency for The P.L.A.Y. Project (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters). The PLAY Project is a home consultation early intervention program for children (ages 18 months-7 years) developed by Dr. Richard Solomon based on the Greenspan DIR/Floortime model. Parents learn to use play activities with their child on the ASD spectrum to provide intensive intervention needed for functional and social development. Other services include Music Play! classes (birth-age 5), consultation, advocacy, diagnostic evaluations for learning concerns and tutoring.

The Access Center is a single source for information that will provide answers, assessment, advocacy, and a tailored referral to the vide variety of service available through Kent County Community Mental Health. The Life Consultation Center assists persons who are 18 or older by promoting independence and providing help to get the variety of services they may need. Services also include respite care, foster care, and intensive in-home services, and Adult housing.
